Clonroche School Band
The students of Clonroche National School are encouraged to develop their interest in music and instrumental music plays a prominent roll in the school calander. The school band consists of students from 3rd to 6th class and they rehearse every Monday and Friday morning in the school assembly hall. Instruments played are banjo, fiddle, bodhrán and whistle.
All students from 1st class upwards learn the whistle. Also, a small number of students take music classes outside of school, the majority of which attend Anna Murphy in the school assembly hall on Tuesdays, after school.
The school band provides music for various occasions throughout the school year such as the school concert, church events, seachtain na gaeilge, visitations to the school etc. Recently Radio na life interviewed some of the senior students as gaeilge and recorded their music.
The longstanding music tradition in the parish continues to be fostered in Clonroche National School, long may it continue.

John Jude Doyle R.I.P. ----
---John Jude passed away at his pub "The Cloch Ban" in Clonroche last night.Although he was born in Co. Carlow John Jude came to live in Co. Wexford in the 1960s and spent 19 years as a horticultural researcher at the research centre in Clonroche. He eventually married into a local family who ran a pub in the centre of the village. In 1976 he and his wife Ann renovated the building which was renamed The Cloch Ban. Sport has played a huge part in John Jude’s life – he was involved with the local GAA club for many years, was a leading figure in equestrian matters and was a director of Horse Board Ireland. He has produced and written a multitude of publications, often focussing on famous local figures, and was the presenter of a DVD production which highlighted the places, people and songs of Co. Wexford. He was also a great lover of irish traditional music and has written numerous articles for the Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann publication "Treoir".He hosted a great Irish music session in his pub once a month which was attended by musicians from all over the South East. -------
