"THE EMERALDS" A well known folk group from New Ross during the 60's & 70's

comprised of John Aspel, Paddy Ryan(R.I.P) & Michael Murray(R.I.P).They played all over Ireland,England & U.S and played in The White House while J.F. Kennedy was president. They made an LP which is now out of print and is a collectors item fetching big money on ebay.I got an old copy recently from John Aspel and will put it up here in the near future if John gives me permission. 2. What's the name of The Emeralds LP? I have searched www.popsike.com which tracks ebay auctions of rare records and while there's plenty listings for "Emeralds LP" I am pretty sure that the New Ross lads' effort isn't among them. Paddy Ryan ran the local tennis club in New Ross back in the 1980s. Sound man. RIP.

  4. Philip Naessens replaced Michael Murray [RIP] when he left in 1970. He played with the group until they retired in 1975.

  6. Can anyone tell me when did the Emeralds play in the Talbot Hotel. I was in a girl group called the Island Folk Group at the time & we were invited to sing. There was a photo taken of us that night which appeared in the local paper & I would dearly love to find it.
